Who I Am

While I wasn't born in Oberlin, in a lot of ways I feel like I'm from here.  I was born and raised in Elyria, Ohio, and attended Oberlin College in the mid-1990s, so this is really where I grew up. After college, I made my home in Columbus, OH before coming back to Oberlin in 2009. Since then, I've worked as a librarian at Oberlin College, and I have also taken a keen interest in becoming an active part of the city government.  From 2018-2021, I served on the Human Relations Commission (and served as the Chair for 2020 and 2021). In 2020, I was appointed to serve on the City's Social Equity working group, where were tasked with developing recommendations for the city to ensure that everyone has access to the specific supports they need in order to fully participate in and benefit from the community’s planning and decision-making processes, policies, programs, and actions.

My heart lies in helping Oberlin to be a better place for everyone who lives, works, or visits here. In addition to supporting positive initiatives that are already underway, I am especially interested in helping the city make progress in several key areas under the umbrella of social justice and racial equity:

  • Body autonomy and access to reproductive health care
  • Environmental sustainability and climate change
  • Adequate, affordable housing for all
  • Safe transportation options to work, school, and other resources & services in and near Oberlin
  • Representation in city government that includes residents from all areas of the city

I look forward to meeting you and working together to make a better Oberlin for today and tomorrow!
